Relationship between SSS, WPW Syndrome and Parkinson's Disea

Post a new topicby christinarene78 on Mon Mar 16, 2009 3:38 pm

Hey! My name is Christina and I am a Nursing Student. I recently had a patient that had several disorders. They are Sick Sinus Syndrome (SSS), Parkinson's disease (PD), and Atrial Fibrillation (A-Fib). I noticed that her heart would beat to the movement of one arm that would jerk due to her Parkinson's disorder. My instructor has encouraged me to look for the relationships between them and I haven't been blessed with anything promising as of yet. I have found a disorder called Wolff-Parkinson's-White Syndrome (WPW Syndrome) and its similar relationship to her SSS and A-Fib Does anyone on here know anything about these disorders/diseases and their relationship with one another? I know what these disorders/diseases are and what causes them; I just can't find the relationship between the 3. HELP...Please!

Thank You!

Just a observation. Also a nurse, retired now. One thing I did learn really early on, is that anytime you have a patient with mulitiple problems, you see symptoms that are more pronounced, than they usually are. The body is in a weakened state, there are usually multiple meds being given, and they all have their side affects. Depending on the patients hydration status, renal function, etc. It is sometimes hard to tell exactally what is causing what. Just monitor the basics, Intake and output, blood pressure, blood tests. The reason being, you dont want to attach a symptom to disease, when it is really a side affect of some med, or an electrolyte imbalance....I hope this helps. And thank you for caring, it matters, it really and truly does........:)
