I WENT THROUGH THE REGULAR RUTINE, OF A CAST AND CRUTCHES, STILL HAD PAIN, A YR LATER I WAS SENT TO A SERGION AND HE DID A PARTIAL RETINACULUM RELEASE IN MY ANKLE BECAUSE THE LIGAMENT HAD A KNOT IN IT AND WOULDNT LET MY ANKLE MOVE PROPRERLY AND THEY THOUGHT THAT IS WHERE THE PAIN WAS COMING FROM.

Hi,
I have just been given the news that I have RSD. I am 44 y/o female, also a nurse. I never heard of this until I was given the news. I have been reading any and all things about RSD that I can get my hands on. I had my first nerve block almost a week ago, and NO luck. It started in my left foot and in three months it is all the way up my leg ( it hurts to shave my leg) SO i feel that RSD does what it wants when it wants. I really do not think that they can say it does not move that fast or not. Everyones body works in it on way. I sorry I could not be more help, but hang in there because we have to believe that thing will get better.

I dont know if you'd be intrested in a treatment called "hyperbaric Oxygen therapy" It is non-ivasive(i dont know how to spell that) but the put the patient in a chamber with pure oxygen. In most cases the patient has returned back to their normal life. The swelling and pain is reduced, and are able to get a full 8 hours of sleep. If you would like any information on this, feel free to email me at.....[moderator note: e-mail address has been removed].....I am a teenage girl, will graduate next year from HS and want oto be a CNA..I dont have RSD, but a very close friend of mine has it so i have been looking up all kinds of treatments that may be able to help. I would be more than happy to email you any info i have on the treatment. And i can also be a good listener and friend.

God Bless YOu

I hear you. Anyone who has read your story and has rsd hears you; and more important, we can sympathyse with you. I have had the "humming" at times; then it goes away. I never know when it will return. It is a strange sensation and when you add it to the pain, it makes you wonder if your whole body is going crazy. But, we have to think positive and not give up. Have you tried a pain management specialist or a neurologist? You need someone who really knows about rsd and doesn't think it's all in your head. I wish you much less pain. Terri Stevens
