I have RSD & Need advice! In 2005, I fell in a restaurant on wet cobblestone flooring, breaking both sides of my ankle. I was a temp & had no insurance at the time, and ER would not do surgery! They wrapped me up and sent me home. I finally got MSI in CA, (almost a week later) and found I had severely broken my ankle and had hairline fractures in my leg bones. They put a plate and 9 screws in me 10 days later. All seemed well-although I was starting to experience pain that went from minor to severe. The screws ...Read the full article
Re: I have RSD & Need advice!any and all insurance companies are going to send you to see another doctor to try to get rid of you. they will try to get someone if not anyone to say you are ok. when you go to any doctor you need to tell them everything that is going on. i mean everything. the things that we do not think of saying. how youhave trouble dressing, trouble using the commode, unable to lift arms like you used to, brusing teeth / hair is difficult, cutting your food, changing the style of clothes you wear now compared to what you used to wear due to the pain/inability to use arms / legs, state the clothing change (stretch waistband, velcro shoes, etc.), not eating correctly, not sleeping due to pain, not able to lay down due to... Sit down and take A LOT of time to come up with a complete list. you really need to be fully armed. keep away from saying anything about having read something on the internet about someone elses diagnosis. just be completely armed. they will be to nervous to diagnosis you with any other diagnosis. they will have to defend you but they have no place else to turn. good luck. let me know if i can help. thanks, kelly
Re: I have RSD & Need advice!Ask your doctor about nerve blocks &/ or a tens unit
Re: I have RSD & Need advice!I was diagnosed with RSD in 2006. I use TENS and Interferrential treatments to help me cope as I choose not to use pharmaceutical treatments. I have also had high frequency radio wave injections at the sight which provided at least a 20 % reduction in the day to day aches associated with our condition. Unfortunately, these treatments are only being performed in 4 sites WORLDWIDE! Two in Australia, One in the Netherlands and finally, by Dr. Etienne Prinslow in Canada (my pain specialist).
You should consult a pain specialist to further review your options as they are the most equipped to assist you in proper diagnosis and treatment options. Most importantly, never let it get you down....this affects you but more importantly, it acerbates RSD.
