Living in Doubt

Post a new topicby livingwith on Mon Jul 06, 2009 3:59 pm

one year ago, as I was playing soccer with my friends, I sprained my ankle. I thought nothing of it, until my entire leg felt as if it were on fire. I went to the E.R. where my Dad works, and had an x-ray. it showed absolutely nothing. the pain worsened, and so did my fear. the doctors grew worried, and scheduled me for a nuclear scan. The scan showed rapidly decreasing muscle in my leg, and they diagnosed me with R.S.D. my brother said that if you cant see it, its not real, and several of my cl...Read the full article

I understand how you feel, i have had RSD a few times before and right now i have it in my right leg since early december. My family and friends think I should be able to just fight the bullet and just walk that there is no pain, they just don't understand . I am still using crutches and having trouble learning how to move the leg consistently to try to walk. It is just one of those things that no one can truly understand unless they have had it. Best of luck to you. Don't worry about what your friends and family say, you know the pain is real, others with RSD know the pain is there, and its just something that needs to personally be accepted about and try to go from there. Keep your head high, look foreword and always allow yourself to try to get something to improve each day. It takes time. :)

Hi,
I am so sorry to hear of all your problems at such a young age. I have been troubled with RSD for over 20 years. The first 7 were the worst and now the last 4. I have it in both my legs, and like you,
can barely get out of bed. I am 51 years old and also have severe osteoarthritis in my hips. I also understand your depression.
I do want to say there are some days that are better than others. I say a pray every day for strength to get me through the pain. I know it is unrelenting.
Try not to pay attention to the people who do not believe you. I have went through the same thing and know that can be as upsetting as the pain itself.
I hope you can get your friends to understand what you are dealing with.
www.rsdhope.org is a good website which may be able to answer alot of your questions. It is a terrific site.
I wish you the best. I keep going by saying that each day may be a day closer to a "cure" for this terrible disorder. Try to keep strong.

I really can't tell you that everything will be okay, or that everything will get better without feeling like i am lying to you. For awhile I thought I had it bad, as a 20 year old i have lost the last 2 years of high school and haven't been able to attend college because of it. But what I can tell you is, even though no body will ever understand your pain ( and they wont, not your friends or your parents) you need to have faith in yourself. Push yourself out of bed in the morning and try your hardest to find something happy. LIVE LIFE.

I really hope the best for you.
