Re: L.P.NHas your doctor actually diagnosed RSD? I broke my ankle (tibia and fibula) severly enought to require 8 screws and a 4 inch place to put me back together in early march. I was also severly bruised and swolen (from my toes to my heel and all the way to my knee) I was experiencing pain, swelling burning, horrible stiffness across teh top of my ankly and the bottom of my foot (the plantar fascia ariea) electric shock kind of feelings, wet dripping sensations, uncontrollable toe & leg spasams, deep "toothachelike" pain etc. It was crazy. My physical therapy was going incredably slow due to the pain, though I am completely healed. I was finanally diagnosed and sent to a pain management doctor who luckily specializes in rsd. I, so far, have been given 2 sympathetic pain block injections and have a 3rd this week. I have to say it has been pretty much a miracle cure. I am taking Baclofin for spasms at night and Lunesta to help with sleep. Even after the first injection i had nothing more than muscle pain (i was actually able for the 1st time in almost 4 months to walk with only one crutch) because was using the muscles, and now after the second, i only need the crutch for stability (could probobly get away with a cane.) and in safe spaces that i know can walk, but slowly. The swelling is almost completely gone, unless i walk or stand for way to long a time, and for the first time in 4 months i can actually see the veins in my foot (before it looked like frankenfoot and not my foot)
If this is something you can look into i would suggest it. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me. The proceedure is really painless, though it sounds frightfull, but the relief is amazing. Kinda like rebooting your nervous system. My physical therapist who i saw last thursday, after not seeing him for 2 weeks due to scheduling and injections, was shocked at the rapidity of my improvment. This is something I highly suggest looking into
Re: L.P.NHI. You need to get a definite diagnosis of RSD from your doctor and get help from a pain management specialist. There are nerve blocks and meds that will help. I'm not going to tell you your pain will go away; that never happens to most people with rsd. But, hopefully, you can get some relief. I know how you feel about wishing the Dr would have just cut the foot off, but the sad thing is, you would still have the pain and it might have been worse. That's how crazy rsd is. Please, contact a pain specialist to get some help. There are lots of options out there; keep searching till you find something that helps at least a little. I wish you less pain. Sincerely, Terri Stevens
