Re: RSD carpal tunnel? My name is Denise. I also had carpol tunnel surgery 4 years ago. From the moment of surgery, I have been in constant pain. During the last 2 years the pain has been so bad. It has been burning, aching, and swelling. After two years of this, one Dr. (of many) finally said, "I think you have something called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) also known as RSD. That was the only conclusion that anyone had come up with. With that statement made, he prescribed gabapentin for pain and sent me on my way. No follow up appt. Just "here are some pills". Well, now I'm on 2400mg a day as well as 2400 Ibuprophen. Still no discussion about what RSD is and what the prognosis is. I just happened to be researching it on the Internet and found out all about it. I have pain from the moment I wake up to when I go to bed. Dr.s never tell you anything about side effects or symtoms etc.... I have ended up quitting my full time job as a supervisor and now only working part-time and not to sure about that. Did you know even noise can have an effect on RSD. Why don't Dr's tell you about this? Is it that unheard of? Or are their egos really that big, that if they don't know, they just pretend they do. This has had a major impact on my quality of life. And physical therapy? MMMMM I had to ask about this 2 months ago and am still waiting to hear from my Dr. How frustrating this can be. I don't think that unknowledgeable Dr.s realize how terrible this syndrome is.
