My name is Marney, 31yo from NJ. One month ago I had surgery for my P.F. I had 5 days where I had NO pain. After those 5 days(about 3 weeks after surgery), my foot swelled up and now the pain is constant and unbearable. My foot doctor said I need to go to a pain mgmt dr. He said "OH You probably have RSD, I will call your family dr" and walked out of the room. My PCP thinks that my foot pain is related to my back. BUT I have never been diagnosed with any back problems. I am so confused and wish I could wake up just ONE day without this pain. Now the pain goes to my knee and feels very "tight", up my thigh to my hip and buttocks. My foot did turn purple a few times but doesnt stay purple. Everything hurts sitting, standing, and laying. I am on pain meds and it takes the pain from an 8 to a 6or7. I cant even walk with my kids to the ice cream shop. I have been looking into pain mgmt drs and still need to get an MRI of my lower back. I take Effexor for depression which causes some sweating. NOW, I sweat sooooo much (even when I am not hot), my hair looks like I just got out of the shower. I question if this is related. I should stay away from opiates but at this point it seems inevitable. Any input is welcomed. Thank you

Your best bet is to go to a pain manegment Doctor, He can diagnoise RSD. Im not doctor put it does sound like rsd. I know how you feel it is very painfull. You must educate your self on rsd because doctors are not up to date on this for some reason. Every thing you are saying is what rsd suffers go threw. There are test that can me done to make sure but there realy not accurate. I have visable rsd, in the upper extremities. you can email me and i can give you more information to help you. Take one day at a time, belive me there are times i think im going to lose it. I have had those injections in my shoulder blade, i was suppose do more but i told the doctor no way. I will tell you more [moderator note: e-mail address has been removed]. I hope to here from you soon.
