Jenn, I am sorry about your Nana. It is so hard to lose a family member or anyone close to you. I don't know if words are enough to express to you my sympathy. Just know I am here to listen if you need me. Once again I am very sorry for your loss.

Hello! I was reading the posts and find them soooo encouraging! Just knowing someone else is out there makes me feel a little better. At least you all know and understand what it is like living with RSD. I have been keeping a daily log on my pain levels and what I had done that day. I had my second spinal block on Monday and I think its actually doing some good!!! I noticed that I am taking 12 Lortab at nine at night then half of one around noon. But I notice that my pain levels shoot up in the evening. And I struggle to make it to the nine oclock mark. But I am doing it. Its nice to not hurt so bad during the day. I have a dull pain that it tollerable. Thats it!!
I have another appointment with my Dr on Thursday and I am really looking forward to it. Not much else to report, just hanging in there... Thats all we can do.....

Hugs,
Christy

Christy, Nice to meet you! It is great to find people who understand our struggles. I have never had a spinal block but my pain has been completely intolarable for the last two monthes. This means next week my doctor and I are going to have make a decision on how to proceed. I have been keeping The American Pain Foundations log. It covers a lot of information but charts pain in a graph format which a doctor could look at quickly. I have an appointment with him next week. Can you tell me about a spinal block? Does it hurt? Because I swear if anything hurts I am not doing it. I have had enough pain and frankly I hate needles so if I have to see a needle thats another forget it! Thanks in advance for the information.

The worst part of the block is the IV in your hand. lol I swear! But I am noticing that I am not as pain free as I thought I was. I didnt sleep a wink last night. All I could do was cry. My leg hurt so bad. I took a whole Lortab and it didnt even touch the pain. I finally fell asleep around 5 this morning. I have been struggling with the pain all day today. So I am wondering if the block helped at all or if it was me having a miricle of a few good days. Regardless, It still hurts and I am really looking forward to seeing my Dr. I have talked on line with a few people that have had numerous blocks before they work.. My Dr said we were going to try it twice. At this point, as crappy as I feel I am game for anything...
I do wonder just how much stress effects RSD. My grandpa died Monday morning. I am just starting to mourn. His funeral is in KS on Friday. Plus, I am the mom of 4 teens. That alone has given me the little gray hairs on my head. I have ALOT to do in a little time to prepare for our trip to Kansas. And now my legs are useless to me. I really need to be able to take care of things and that just stresses me more when nothing seems to go right when I really need it to...
Anyhoo, that is what I can tell you about spinal blocks. Not a whole lot, but they dont hurt. Just the IV and the whole procedure takes less than 10 minutes....

Hang in there,

Christy

Christy, I am so sorry for the loss of your Grandfather. I know how that feels. I have lost all of my grandparents and I was lucky enough to have extras (thanks to divorce by grandparents and parents). I was especially close to both of my grandfathers. So I truly mean that I am sorry. I want to thank you for answering mw questions. It means even more that you did that when you have so much of your own things to be taking care of. I hope you find relief from the next attempt. Be safe in your travels and I hope the stress doesnt cause you any more pain. I will keep your family in my thoughts.

Denny,
Thank you for the kind words. And I know what you mean by "extras". My grandpa that died Monday was my step grandpa. Both of my natural grandparents died when I was very young so I never knew what it was like to have Grandparents. I am so thankful that I got the chance to experience what it is like to have grandparents. They were everything I could have hoped for as a child and adult. I have been truley blessed to have had them in my life and they made such an impact on me.
Anyways, thank you again...
