Is it RSD?

Post a new topicby eileenkny on Tue Apr 29, 2008 2:57 pm

I was hurt on the job in May of '05 and have had 2 surgeries on a herniated cervical disc and a bone spur. I've since been told by a pain mgmt doctor that the scar tissue from the 2nd surgery is pressing on the nerves and I'm going to have to have pain mgmt probably for the rest of my life.

Over the past couple of months I've had strange sensations in my right forearm and elbow. It has blossomed into a burning sensation on my skin and the joint has become very painful. There's no discoloration or swelling. There is numbness on the outside of my right hand/pinky finger. My doctor said she thinks I have RSD When my husband and I asked what to do, she said the Lyrica I'm already taking should help, and to exercise it. I don't go to PT because it wasn't helping the original injury and WC didn't want to keep paying for it.

How do I find out if it really is RSD and what kind of doctor should I go to?
I'd appreciate any and all advice and information.
Thanks,
eileenkny

Hello I ask myself the same questions everyday. I was just diagnosed with rsd in my right hand and arm I have all the symptoms that apply to this disorder. I was rather shocked when I say it on paper and hearing the dr say it. I have done alot of reading on this subject (rsd) and I have been a nurse for 20 years I myself had never heard of this When I go to therapy three times a week the pain afterwards is so bad it takes two days to recover from it and then I am back to pt again. The more I move my hand the worst it is. I do like having this chat though it helps to listen to other stories and helps relieve the stress. are you still under a dr care are you back to work. I look forward to hearing from you katelyn

Good Morning all,
A good, strike that GREAT site for information is rsdrx.com, this site was put together by one of the best physicians in the business Dr Hooshmand (since retired but his clinic is still open). He has treatment, diagnosis, and tolerance recommendations on this site. You can google his name and RSD for a wealth of info. And last but certainly not least search this site, a lot of info is out there and easily retreived. Good luck in finding the help you need. Be Blessed, g0j0g0
