You are not alone. Please go the left of this page under conditions and click on RSD and it should help you understand what she has or will go through. Find a good pain specialist and a doctor who works extensively with RSD. Tell her to be her own best advocate. Don't settle for unanswered questions and never give up!

Is this something that will be an ongoing thing her whole life or will it eventually go away with treatment

It is a lifetime. But with the right doctors and the right medicines or treatments it will get alot better at times. I have had it for 35 years. I was diagnosed at 11 years old and had a sympathectomy on my right leg when I was 13. It gets worse whenever I have an injury, no matter how minor. But there is help out there and we are all here to talk each other through the bad times. Don't give up; get all the information and help that you can.

Hi MPMan25,
First allow me to say a heart felt thank you for fighting for our freedoms and guarding our way of life. It takes a special person to take on the responsibility, and me and my family are most grateful for you and your family's sacrifice for us and our freedoms.
There is a retired doc that spent 40plus years treating RSD and has a website. His name is Dr. Hooshmand and his site is RSDrx.com, and there you will find a wealth of info. In addition to this and the site I mentioned you might look up RSDSA.org, a patient advocacy site that helps in funding research and distributing info to patients. You might try you on sight doc, for I have read of more than one sedvice member that has suffered from this after a combat injury. I pray this helps and many blessings to you and prayers for you all, gojogo
