Unexpected Seizures

Post a new topicby livingwith on Wed Jan 21, 2009 1:05 pm

I had one seizure in Feb. and the neurologist said it was a quirk. In November I had 2 seizures 3 hours apart. Both were while sleeping. I was put on Dilantin and 3 weeks kept on Dilantin plus Keppra XR. At this time, I am not sleeping, irritable, cry easily and really would rather not live to make everyone’s life miserable.
There is not a cause that doctors can come up with now. I also have restless leg syndrome which has been made worse with seizure meds.

How many doctors have you seen? I can sense your frustration and I too am frustrated with my experience. I have seen several specialists and so far no one can tell me why I collapsed, felt numb over my entire body and couldn't walk.

It is important to remember that you are important and you're not crazy. You deserve help. There is a way back from the depression that you've been experiencing. My medical doctor told me, "We just haven't run the right test yet."

Are you on any meds? Have you recently started taking any medication of any type? My son started having seizures at the age of 17 and we couldn't figure out why. The doctors ran many tests and they all came up with nothing. Long story short...I was able to figure out on my own that the only thing that was different was the acne medication he just started taking...the doctor was able to confirm that he was actually having an allergic reaction to his acne medication. Once he stopped taking the meds he has never had another episode.....just a thought.
