Anoxic Brain injury and seizuresMy husband suffered a sudden, unexplained status epilepticus seizure in March which resulted in a severe anoxic brain injury. His recovery has been, in short, a nightmare!
There is so little information out there about Anoxic Brain injury and I continue to get conflicting "answers" from his care providers. He is a 58 year old man who, prior to this incident was just TOO healthy. But, he does have a history of long term, steady alcohol use. He continues to have seizures (does that mean he has epilepsy?) usually mild, but there have been 2 more serious, but not as bad as the first. During his hospital recovery he contracted a MSRA infection and then a severe colon infection (c-difficalis, excuse my spelling). He lost 50 of his already slight 165 lbs. His health has continued to deteriorate (it's been about 6 months now) and no one is giving me any answers or guidance or anything. Anyone been here? It's just the 2 of us, and it's killing me that I can't help him! ShelleO
Re: Anoxic Brain injury and seizuresMy sister had to go to the hospital in Gainesville. I think it's called Shand's hospital. It's across from the University of Florida. You can look it up on the internet. I think that you need a referal to go there. I hope thgis helps.
