best friend had seizureHi! First of all, thank you to anyone who responds. I am posting this because i'm worried about my best friend. She's a 35 year old female. Three weeks ago she had a seizure that lasted five or ten seconds. It is the only one she has ever had. A few weeks prior she had started to complain about headaches and feeling a little off. She couldnt say what was "off" just that she felt bad in general. She went to her family physician who did blood work (normal results) and was then sent to a neurologist. She had an EEG which showed abnormal brainwave activity. This doctor barely explained anything to her and she didnt know what questions to ask him. He scheduled an MRI for the next week and gave her samples of a name brand drug to take if she had another seizure The kind of drug you cant just stop taking. She has not had another one but still feels bad. Her MRI had normal results. He gave her a prescription for another drug and told her to take it and not to drive, etc. Does one seizure and one abnormal EEG equal a seizure disorder and a lifetime on anti seizure medication? He did not specify any disorder when he gave her the prescription. Should she get another doctor or is this the normal course of treatment? Any response is appreciated.

Re: best friend had seizureInteresting to read. I came down with a 103 degree temp 3 months ago, and since then have been lightheaded, having pressure headaches, brain fog, and a weird sensation in my little finger on my right hand. 10 days ago I had an episode where I started blacking out, and my right hand starting to shake uncontrollably for 5 seconds or so. I've never had a seizure before, but my guess is that is what this was to some degree. My MRI shows only sinus issues at this point. My symptoms change to some degree each day, with the worst of them where I am in such a fog daily activitis are hard to get through. I see my neuro in 3 days and will discuss this. Sounds similar to your friend in a way. You re right, you hate to be on meds forever based on one incident. My question is how a sinus issue can cause the episode I had (i doubt it does), or why my right hand feels weird. Reply when you can.
