Please Help! Strange Symptoms

Post a new topicby RebelGirl on Wed Feb 11, 2009 9:10 am

Hi everyone....I'm new here, and I am hoping that someone will be able to give me an idea as to what's wrong with me. This is an usual story, but please read thwe whole thing. A few years ago, I got a very bad ear infection. I took antibiotics and it went away.....BUT ever since then I have been having weird symptoms involving fluid accumulation in my head and ears. My face will look all puffy, and if I press on a certain area of my face, fluid literally POURS out.....It comes from everywhere....my entire face does this. Its not like tears, it is LOTS of fluid and its like it's coming out of the pores of my skin even! See.....I told you it was weird LOL! Shortly after this ymptom (which I still have), I got a high pitched noise or hum in my ears (which I also still have).....but the thing that scares me is the last thing that developed......As I am falling asleep some nights, I will be jolted awake by violent muscle contractions.....sometimes my face, sometimes my arm and chest, sometimes my abdomen. The ones in my abdomen are the worst, because it is like some one punched me in the stomach (without pain) the ones in my abdomen are are so strong that sometimes the next morning my stomach is sore. It even happens to my lips making me grimace (LOL how emabarrassing!) Once again I NEVER get this during the day, but ONLY as I am falling asleep....or the first few minutes I am asleep. I told my doctor and he said I have "EXCESSIVE SWEATING!" This is not sweat....when there is alot of fluid in my face and ears I can move my head side to side and hear it (like when you go swimming and get water in your ears. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT IT COULD BE? I REALLY need advice. It happened last night....I had very violent jerking of my arms and legs....I was exhausted and kept trying to go back to sleep, but each time I did, it would happen and wake me up.....I got so that I was AFRAID to go to sleep, so I have been up all night. I hope someone can help.

I'm wondering if it may be a problem with your lymphatic system. Is the fluid clear? I know that lymph vessels are very superficial to the skin. If there were a problem with your lymph vessels (obstruction?) that leads to the lymph nodes in the lateral neck area just inferior to your jaw line... maybe that ear infection caused some damage to those nodes so that they don't take up the lymph fluid the way they should. I don't know. It a very intriguing symptom. When you find out about it, please let me know. I'm a Licensed massage therapist so I have a vested interest in learning about health an the presentations of pathologies in general

Thankyou so much for responding! I have been dealing with this for so long, and like you said, it's unusual. I told my doctor about the fluid (yes its clear like water)....he said "couldn't it be sweat?".....I told him NO, that it only comes out when I put pressure on my face, and large amounts from my face only and no where else on my body. He told me I should see an ENT.....but when I read my medical papers he had written "excessive sweating"!! I can't find a doctor that will take it seriously. But I will look in to what you suggested, and I thank you for the info....
