Seizures or Syncope?Since 2003 my oldest daughter who is now 19 has been passing out and untill now none of the doctors we have taken her to would go into these episodes any further than just to say that it is Syncope and we just had to deal with it. We have just recently found a doctor that wants to diagnose this condition to rule out all possibilities of seizures or syncope. At first she lost all control of her body. She was awake, but it started out as if she had vertigo. She could not stand without wobbling, she couldnt walk on her own because she was too dizzy, she crawled all over the house and spent most of her time in bed sleeping. Then the doctor we took her to done testing for vertigo but found nothing. After those few days is when she started passing out. She has about a 3 second warning, smells an odor she cant explain and gets very pale, hands are clamy, sweats, looses conciousness for about 1-2 minutes and is hard to wake up. Its as if you are awaking someone first thing in the morning who is hard to wake up. She remembers nothing at first but after a few moments she remembers. While unconsious, she moans and grunts and arches her back as if she is trying to get up. Her body usually goes stiff before she goes down. After this she sleeps for hours and hours. She has slept for two days before, after an episode. We have a neurologist who is really wanting to go into this to find out her cause and the diagnoses. Right now she has been married for about a year and is in her 23rd week of pregnancy. I am open for suggestions, advice or anything that can help us out! I worry a lot more than I want her to know, I worry about her and the baby. I worry about the long term effects these episodes could have on her brain. I worry about stroke for her and about the development of her unborn baby which is a little boy. Help and advice please! Thank You. Anita
