signs leading up to seizure

Post a new topicby scareyme on Sun Jun 29, 2008 4:01 pm

I started having grandmal seizures around 1990 I would be on meds for a while then for one reason or other quit taking them. Sometimes I would go a couple of years without having one. Three years ago Ihad one in my sleep and broke a couple of ribs. I didn't realize I had had a seizure though since there weren't any other signs that it was a seizure. So I just forgot about it, I almost always had all my seizures while sleeping so it didn't bother me too much. Then last year I had stopped at a SuperWalmart on my way home from work, and I started feeling funny, lightheaded, everything started getting darker or brighter I started trembling all over so I tried to get to a check-out lane asap well that's the last thing I remember till I woke up in an ambulance and couldn't even remember my own name etc, I had busted my head open in several places so I was taken to a hospital.
I am on Keppra and have been since April of last year, I was doing good up untill a week ago now I've had several episodes while driving and and or grocery shopping, I'll start getting all of the signs that I'm going to have a seizure and it's like my brain is misfiring or something, I'll start sweating, and heart will start pounding and I can't concentrate, what ever I look at starts jerking around like when the satelite is loosing a signal on the tv it's crazy, but, I don't fall out. I'm aware of it. Has this happened to anyone else before? What is going on? I haven't had a level done on my med's so I have scheduled an appt with my dr. I just hope I'll be able todrive there without killing myself or worse someone else.

THe signs that are leading up to a sz are called auras adn you better listen to then too. They never lie to ya. I have Complex PArtial szs, and my aura is not a nice one. I get a feeling in my stomache that feels like it is rising adn then it keeps going up until it gets to my throat then I smell urine then I get a feeling like I am choking then I sz, and remember nothing after that.

I have had epilepsy most of my life but it has alwasy been missed and dxd as a behavior problem, becuase if my bizarre behairo , that were really szs. But it finally got caught with a sleep-deprived EEG. I have had several of them and an ambulaotry one and 2 VEEGs, and EEGS that when you were under normal circustances.

But what you are feeling are teh wonders ofauras adn I would not drive anymore right now befor eosmeon egets hurt and that might be you. I got hurt in a car accident having a sz that I didn't know I had at that time. I swerved off teh road jumped a curb adn hit a tree head on and suffered a head injury adn whip lash along wiht otehr broken bones.

GO adn see your doc or have you alread ysince I am reply to a late one and what did he come up with as your dx? What kind of epilepsy do you yhave?

So sorry I din't find this sooner, but I forgot I belonged to this forum. I just got a notice in my e-mail about getting a reply. Now I am going through every topic that has had some impact on my life and starting topics.

Anyway, good luck adn I hope you get on some god meds. I have been on about10 other sz drugs not counting the 4 I am on now. I aslo have the VNS implant as well to help control my szs.
