Post a new topicby Guest on Wed Jan 22, 2003 2:47 am

Hi, I am new to the system and I am trying to find information about the possibility of video games causing seizures My brother has Epilepsy and loves to play video games however, we have found that shortly after he begins to play these games he begins to have seizures Is there a connection here? I would greatly appreciate any info on this subject.

Yes, there is a connection between seizures and games. In some people the strobe or flashing lights in some games, irritates the brain and causes a seizure. Tell your brother's neurologist what you told us Louise. Let him know that you believe that it would be a very good idea for your brother to have an E.E.G. done with the strobe light and if possible your brother can play the video games during his EEG.

It all depends on the person I guess. I've had epilepsy for 30 years and have never had a problem with video games, strobe lights, alcohol ect.. But if you can already see that it does affect him then I definitely wouldn't have him play them!

Thank you for your reply and the advice. I will consult with his neurologist about the E.E.G. Have a great day!

the flashing or strobe lights affect my seizures. I have reason to belive that they may be causing a young man to have epilepsy.
