My son is experiencing the same symptoms as your husband and son. All through high school he had a hard time falling asleep. He would go to school on only a few hours of sleep each night. And then sleep through his weekends. Now, he is a senior at college and he goes for a day without sleep and then sleeps for two days at a time and wakes up exhausted. I recently took him for blood work because this pattern is affecting his school work. He sleeps for days and is missing his classes. We thought that he had mono because he is so fatigued all of the time. Well, the blood work came back normal. Above normal! The doctor said that he has never seen anyone as healthy. The next step is to admit him into the sleep clinic at the hospital.
