sleeplessness

Post a new topicby livingwith on Thu May 14, 2009 10:43 am

Hi
I have been experiencing difficulty in initiating sleep started about 2 weeks ago. I am not able to go to sleep although I feel very sleepy. What is happening is that the moment I am about to lose consciousness suddenly I get a shock or an impulse from my nerves or my brain (I am not sure exactly whch one) which pokes me repeatedly and deprives me of going to deep sleep. Hope that somebody with similar symptoms help me.

I have something really similar that happens on a fairly regular basis. The more tired I am, the worse it is. Just as I'm falling asleep, a shock shoots through my body, usually my chest. It can be very jarring, enough to make me yell out. I've likened it to a cattle prod being applied to my chest, or it's how I imagine it might feel to be tased. I've told different doctors about it, and no one has any idea what I'm talking about. I can happen half a dozen times before I fall alseep. If anyone has any idea what this might be, please share.
