I need your help, Please. REM sleep ?

Post a new topicby Rainbow_Hope on Wed Sep 12, 2007 3:49 pm

Hi,

I found your forum because I'm doing research on REM sleep and the stages of sleep. I had a sleep study done two months ago. They didn't have me sign any releases of information (just a questionnaire saying, "Who's the referring doc you want the results sent to?), so my physician has not gotten the records for the past 2 months. Meanwhile, I'm agonizing over what might be wrong. Sheesh.

Anyway, I was at the hospital where the study was done today, and it occurred to me.....go to Medical Records and sign releases of information. They gave Me a copy of the results, too. :) Bonus!

The study is normal. Clean as a whistle. No apnea. They didn't find anything. THEY didn't find anything.... I caught something because I used to watch 'Star Trek:TNG'.

I barely got any REM sleep that night, 4.5%; normal is 24%. And, I've had this sleep disorder ever since I was a kid, so I'm betting I don't get much REM sleep every night. I spent most of the night in stage 2 sleep; 81.5%.

Stage 1; 2.3% and stage delta; 11.7%.

I found a good article to start with on REM deprivation (but I need to do more research): because it's not Sleep deprivation I suffer from....although it sure feels like it, sometimes. Right now, I'm so exhausted my eyes feel grainy and I want a nap SOOO bad!!!!

Oh, this sleep disorder makes my other psychiatric disorders gradually worse and worse every 6-9 months. I gotta find a way to get a grip on this.

Has anyone ever heard of what I'm talking about?
Thanks for listening. This has been so frustrating.
Peace and Light to everyone.

Do you sleep normal hours? I mean sleeping at night, and waking a decent time in the morning?

Hi Cokeko,

Yes, for the last 5 months I have. Before that, it was tough. I seem to have a lot of sleep issues. I'm living in a halfway house now, so bedtime is pretty regular. Living on my own, I have really bad insomnia

:)
Thanks for replying.
