Post a new topicby livingwith on Wed May 07, 2008 2:00 am

When I was 39 years old. I was diagnosed with a blood clot in my left arm. I was treated with lovenox and coumadin and a torn muscle was also found. I was sent to a hand surgeon, as well as a vascular surgeon . The hand surgeon also, started me on I.V. antibiotics, thinking it was cellulitis.
x days later, my left leg started hurting and I could hardly walk. They doctor found 2 more clots in my left leg. One behind the knee and one behind the in the groin. I was admitted to the hospital ...Read the full article

Hi

Your story sounds like my life right now. I was having some pain my right arm and back. My arm started swelling and I went to the er where they found I had a DVT, Deep Vein Trombosis. I was admitted and put on lovonox and comadin. But within hours I started having trouble breathing and felt as if I was losing feeling thought my body. I was taken for an mri, ct scans, brain scans and every other test and scan they could think of.

By the next day i was put on a ventilator and couldnt feel mor move from my neck down. After 4 surgeries. My level of injury is complete. I am a quadapalicic and I breath and eat from a ventilator and a feeding tube. My husband sold our home and got a home where i can get around in. I am 39 years old and have 4 little kids. I have been in rehab now for 2 months and Im going home for christmas tomorrow. My husband tells me I will love my new home its all wheelchair accessible and will be easy for me to get around. It seems very insignificant to me considering im completely imoblie, someone has to do everything for me. Feed me, wash me, dress me, lift me, change my diapers and hold a cup of water for me. If i try to swallow to much due to the paralysis in my throat I choke. I ask the drs. if i am dying they tell me we are all dying Frances. But I know inside me I am dying. They have told me If a blood clot hits my heart or brain i will die in a coma. Not the way I want my kids to see me live and die. I have nurses and aides around the clock my husband said so my care and treatment will be on going at home. Its going to suck not being able to do christmas dinner. And its really going to suck having a stranger feed me at the dinner table. But This is my new journey and however long it takes me to get well no matter what the drs tell me about me never getting better. I still have faith.

You have to get well and have that same faith. If you want to write to me email me at [moderator note: e-mail address has been removed] Maybe we can make eachother well faster.
