Degenerative Disc DeseaseI have three lower disc's That have been described as "swiss cheese" and acute chronic incapacitating pain. To try to alleviate the pain I have now had three epidural injections. The first one gave me relief for one day. The second one gave me relief for about five weeks. It is now three days after the third one with no relief. Why the difference? Also, the last shot produced so much pain that they had to give me three shots of morphine. Is this normal?
Re: Degenerative Disc DeseaseEpidural injections work for some individuals, but many do not experience any benefit, and some only initially. The technique or other factors that are not always clear may make one injection helpful and others not. You should probably ask the clinician who did the procedure if anything was differently the last time, and what the theories are about why so much pain developed.
