Post surgical sensation question....

Post a new topicby Guest on Mon Aug 15, 2005 12:14 pm

Hi

Back in June I underwent a rightmicroendoscopic diskectomy at the T6-7 level. This was after nearly a year of misery after the disk herniated and three years since onset of phantom random chest pain with no rhyme or reason to them. Anyway the MRI of my spine at the time showed herniations at different thoracic levels as well as a mild herniation at C6-7 and 7-8. The problem I have begun having is post surgical and flairs up after Physical Therapy or excessive movement. The odd thing is that it has just started in the past week and a half or so. WHat ends up happening is that both of my arms, from the shoulder to about 3/4 of the way down end up with a very intense feeling like they are shaking but they are still. My hands do shake very slightly and I lose most of my strength. I was seen back at the ER on friday night and the neurosurgeon did another series of MRI's on the Thoracic and Cervical spine as well as my brain. They saw nothing to indicate bi-laterial problems and ruled out any problem with the surgery itself. THey referred me to the on call neurologist who did in fact do a more thorough neuro exam and was kind of vague on his findings, but does want to follow up with an EMG.

I guess my question is, do these weird arm sensations sound familiar to anyone? Has anyone experienced anything close to this? My Physical therapist referrs to them as "dry tremors", My PCM says they are a result of the surgery and the body healing, the neurosurgeon that did the surgery (one of the best in the nation) and the on call neurologist at the University disagree.

Any advice is most appreciated
