Spinal Cord Compression in 4 areas

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Dec 02, 2001 12:23 am

I have C4-7 cord compression, along with space narrowing, uncovertebral, facet hypertrophy, osteophytosis,& stenosis. bulge to the T 1-2 ,stenosis. L4/5 bulge & cord compression, stenosis, facet hypertrophy & ligamentum flavum thickening,& foramen narrowing.DDD and all others not mentioned above are bulged & narrow disc height.
My doctor wants to do anterior, discetomy, lapinectomy, fusion using plate on the C4-6. He says the 5/6 has grey matter gel disbursed around the cord and wants to fix it 4 through 6 first. My motor skills have been affected with tremors when I pick up things, what chance do I have of this stopping after surgery?
Is this surgery urgent,or could it wait for awhile? What in your opinion is the over all seriousness of my spine? I have a spine doctor, but should I get a neuro? This spine doctor did Lap/dis/fusion on my L 3/4 this pass march 16 and I have went down hill with my whole back and neck since. Have numbness ,arms ,finger, head. Also wake at night like I'm having a whole body tremor or seizure what would be a guess of what is happening to me? I just need answers that my doctor hasn't took the time to discuss. I have a very tender breast bone and pulling under rib, could this be caused from spine? Sorry for so many questions. Thanks So Much, Slimmy Female/49yrs.

From your description there are a number of abnormalities that need to be dealt with in the cervical spine region. I would suggest that if you have any reservations about surgery or evben any questions about the procedure that you seek a second opinion. You should plan to gather all of your medical records and films, and consider seeing a neurosurgeon in consultation. It doesnt mean that you will not be returning to your doctor. It sometimes serves to reassure that things are being planned appropriately, and may help you feel that the surgery is necessary at this point. Good luck.
