What kind of symptoms can a syrinx cause?

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue Oct 30, 2001 11:28 pm

In 1997, I had an MRI which revealed a syrinx, I think from T7-T11. Just curious what kind of symptoms it can cause in general. My T10/11 area was also bulging at the time. I think it was impinging or something too. (I wonder if it's herniated by now) I have scoliosis and constant low back and thoracic area pain.
I haven't had any follow-up ever since-no clear-cut recommendations, and I'm not going to bother with anything right now, but was just curious.
Thanks for any input.

The symptoms a syrinx causes will depend on the size and location. Numbness, tingling, pain, weakness and abnormal neurological findings may be present, but if a syrinx is small, it may not result in abnormalities. You should plan to follow up with a neurologist.
