I am a survivor of diffused axonal injuryOn november 6th, 2008, I was involved in a terrible car accident that lead me to the diagnosis of diffused axonal syndrome. I was in an induced coma for almost 4 weeks, then a self induced coma for nearly two weeks. During both of these cycles, I was not aware of the diagnosis or what it meant as far as my welfare and future; however, after reading and talking to doctors and staff that were with me, I have come to understand the seriousness and finality that this condition can mean.

Re: I am a survivor of diffused axonal injuryFrankie, thank you so much for sharing your story. 22 days ago my neice was involved in a terrible car accident. She still remains in a self induced coma. We have also been told that she has sustained a diffused axonal injury. Unfortunately, until your story, I have been unable to find anything positive about this type of injury. We are all being positive and faithful that she will be as lucky as you and be able to continue to live a mostly normal life.
