Hi Larry,
Well you are not alone. I to was a correctional officer at a maximum security prison for over 16 years. On Jan 3,2003 I was assisting with a doctor and my partner during a physical exam of an inmate who was about to be sent back to his cell in our psych services unit. The inmate was psychotic and was serving a life /without parole for murder. He had nothing to loose. As the doctor was listening to his heart, the inmate lunged at the doctor. The doctor was able to deflect the inmate off of him and onto the floor. (he was handcuffed in the rear). I jumped on top of the inmate at his waist and my partner jumped in on his chest in order to control him. During the struggle the inmate got his left foot free and kicked me three times in the back of the head. At first I didn't fudge to much due to the adreniline pumping. After an hour my head began to feel odd. I ended up with a post concussion syndrome..aka TBI. I've since retired from corrections due my injury. Write back,so we can compare. By the way... The inmate that kicked me ......will be in his cell a long time now on top of his current crime. Jeff
