TBI+Diagnosis problem

Post a new topicby reniee on Tue Jun 24, 2008 5:47 pm

I know a man who is under 30 who has a diagnosis of vegitatative even though he responds to yes and no questions with eye blinks. He can't qualify for therapy until the diagnosis is removed. The Dr. declines to change the diagnosis or recommend a neurologist. Friend has very limited financial resources. Any suggestions?

First off does your friend have any family members that can help with the decisions. Only because it can turn into a legal mumbo-jumbo if you do something that your friend doesn't agree to . In short he needs a guardian/person with power of attorney to make these decisions. THEN get a hold of a neurologist and get him checked out for what kind of therapy is avalible. It is hard to say what can actually be done without knowing what happened, how long ago did this happen, did anyone see the incident, did he pass out and for how long. The list goes on. You need some good quality medical help and family support from your friends family. It is not a one person situation. You need lots of help. Good Luck. Jeff
