Trigger point injectionI have suffered from neck and shoulder pain for 13 years! I tried everything for the chronic pain. Just 3 weeks ago I was told about TPI and gave it a try. It has been the miracle that I had been looking for! I am a new person. I just can't believe that after all the doctor visits and all the complaining I was never told of TPI! I feel this was my last alternative and it definitely gave me my life back!
Re: Trigger point injectionDear candiw...glad the trigger point injections worked for you, but they sure didn't work for me. I had four injections in my neck/shoulder area, by a local Pain Management center, about 2 months ago. Not only did I have severe injection-site pain for weeks, I have had non-stop severe headaches, ever since. I have another appointment coming soon, to discuss how I did, with the doctor, so I will see what he thinks/suggests what can be done, if anything. Very disappointed and frustrated, to say the least. If anyone has a suggestion or thought on this, please let me know.
Re: Trigger point injection problemsI have been getting TPI's once a month for 2 years now for cervical spine problems. I went this past Wednesday and got them in my back and shoulders and since then, I have severe pain in my shoulder and arm. I have never had a problem with them before.
Does anyone know if it's possible to have a reaction to them? It feels like the dr hit something that is causing severe stabbing pain that travels through my shoulder and down to my fingers. I will call my dr on Monday but meanwhile, does anyone know of this happening and what I can do to relieve the pain? I've tried ice, muscle relaxers and pain meds. Nothing seems to relieve it. Any suggesgtions will be much appreciated!
Re: Trigger point injectionI've suffered from Fibromyalgia for about 10 years, but this year it has taken a different path. The muscles in my neck, upper back and shoulders are in spasm and something is touching on the nerves that lead down my arms and down to the tips of my fingers. I'm not getting any sleep. I wake 4 times a night with total numbness from both shoulders down and acute pain down my arms. It takes ages for me to get any feeling back into my hands to pick up a mug etc. I'm very frightened. I'm on two types of muscle relaxants. The only thing that has ever worked are nerve blocks - are they similar to trigger point injections? I have an appointment to see a neurologist in August. I will need morphine before then though.
