Lightheaded All The TimeI guess what you could call my situation is Vertigo I assume. I feel dizzy when I move my head to the left or right, kinda like slow motion. The sounds I hear seem like they are amplified and sometimes just a ringing sound. I feel drained almost no energy at all. I start to worry about this sometimes to the point of panicking or just try to sleep and hope it will be over when I wake. This has been going on for about 2 weeks now. I have been diagnosed with depression and generalized anxiety diso...Read the full article
Re: Lightheaded All The TimeI relate with the vertigo. It's evidently quite normal with TBI. Sometimes passes, sometimes doesn't. There are exercises you can do to lessen some of the effects of it IF It has to do with draining your inner ear of pieces of calcium that may have loosened up, and are now floating in your inner ear, attaching themselves, or laying against the hairs that are sensors that determine your balance and your orientation to the world.
Not sure if that made sense to you, but I hope it helps you do some research, or better yet, ask a doctor. My doctor had me sit at the end of a bed, feet inwards towards the head, look up to my right, then look up to my left then, while keeping my head in that position, lay backward onto my right shoulder. PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS WITHOUT A PARTNER. Do not risk falling and hitting your head again. This could (and does) prove very dangerous! Please ask a doctor what to do for your own vertigo, this was only MY therapy, and could have nothing to do with why you have vertigo. The anxiety and depression are kickin' my ass now, also. I'd suggest (again) talking to a doctor. Anxiety and depression are not uncommon after a TBI. I encourage you to get help. There are experts out there and you need support.
Re: Lightheaded All The TimeI, also, have constant dizziness. I finally went to a doctor that knew what he was talking about. He sent me to physical therapy for, of all things, neck therapy. There are vertibraes in your neck that control balance. I could barely turn my head to the right or left. These therapies worked tremendously. They teach you the exercises so you can even do them at home.
I have 2 issues.....the dizziness, and the spinning. I understand now they are not the same. I don't seem to be able to treat the spinning....it happens about every 2 months, and I end up in the ER to have stitches in my head. I cannot tell the episodes are about to occur and it happens so fast, I fall. I have absolutely no control....and in 5 seconds...it's over. However, I am afraid to leave the house.
