Re: living with chronic vertigo/dizzinessHi Michelle
I am so sorry to hear your story - I am hearing how much emotion pain you are in. Not only have you lost your health 9 years ago, but your relationship, and your Mother's support. By your story it sounds like there have been some small improvements in your condition, you can now drive and no longer need a carer to come to your house, however it does sound like, in addition to your vertigo, that you are suffering from depression (in part grief related). This is so common when you have a long term illness. Michelle I am very concerned for you, you are dealing with so many things and I feel that you need some support in your life. Whilst Doctor's are not giving you answers for your vertigo, can you please visit one and ask for assessment/help regarding depression. Is there a community centre or something locally you can go to to ask about what help and resources you can get for your condition. Are you able to get some kind of 'disability' payment from the Government? - I can't be any more specific as I don't know what country you live in. If anyone else is reading this post and aware of who Michelle can contact for support in i'm guessing America can you post it. Also read through this forum, someone might have already posted something of interest you can follow up. Ask your/a Doctor what help you can get. Make a list of all the people you know and how they might be able to help you, Aunties/Uncles, Brother/Sisters, Friends, a counsellor or someone you like from work, if any of them are around tell them you are struggling and get them to help you in some way, cooking a meal once a week, taking the kids, doing a load of washing. Self-care for you at present is paramount, if you read this post make sure the next thing you do is start making some calls because you are not alone there are people out there who can support you in some way. Michelle I also suffer from Vertigo, I know what it feels like, and I know what the 'hopelessness' feels like - but that at least can get better while we all search for answers into how to stop our dizzyness. If you live in Australia, let me know as I may be able to suggest some resources for you. Feel free to send me a private message if you like - [moderator note: e-mail address has been removed] Warm regards Lucy
Re: living with chronic vertigo/dizzinessG'day
So sorry to hear about your distress. You say you've visited numerous doctors without success. Has anybody suggested you may have 'positional vertigo' ? Cheers Vasso
Re: living with chronic vertigo/dizzinessI am so sorry to hear about your situation. I also suffer from vertigo. I have had it 3 times now and this last time it lasted for over 12 days. I was unable to start the 2nd semester of nursing school. I was so bummed. I am sorry to hear about your husband. It sounds like he blamed the condition you have for leaving. Not true. He sounds like a jerk. He used that as an exuse to be with someone else. He is low down. The wedding vows say in sickness and in health. It is not your fault that you feel like this its just to bad he doesn't get hit with it at least once so he can know what it feels like. You also mentioned twins and being a single mom. That is a lot of hard work and stress. Try to slow down sometimes I feel like I am going so fast that my head is spinning and then it literally does (Vertigo). I have been on another website healthboards.com about dizziness and hormones. I notice it is worse around my period. Maybe you can get your hormone levels checked (progesterone, estrogen, ect.) Also I have been on a wesite called allexperts.com where I asked a physican and they suggested a neurologist, ENT, or thyroid test. Good luck and be blessed, enjoy your children and I hope you can find some really good support through family and friends!
