Vertigo

I have been diagnosed with vertigo and frankly it scares the heck out of me. The vertigo sensation pulsates 5 - 10 times every time I move my eyes from side to side. It feels as though the eyes are moving in small jerks rather than smoothly. I also have constant tinnitus, more pronounced in the left ear. It has been slowly getting worse in the last 6 to 8 months. Any suggestions? Also has anyone tried the home remedy advertised on the Net?
