Help its ruining my sleep and life

Post a new topicby cthoman on Mon Jun 15, 2009 6:05 am

I was diagnosed with Vertigo about 4 years ago. The most severe episode i have had is where i feel as if i am laying on my stomach spread eagle. and it feels like some one is sitting on me cause i cant move. and the whole room is spinning. of course i am woken up out of a deep sleep when this happens. and all i can do is scream please stop. this last week i have been woken up about 2-30 times a nite as to where the room is spinning and it makes me sick, it scares me to the point where i am afraid to go back to sleep and of course i get sick to my stomach. I have to find something in the room that is stationary for me to focus my eyes on to stop it from happening. so i normally only get about 3-5 hours of sleep a night if i am lucky. the worst part is the dizzy and light headedness goes on all day long. what can i do. i cant live like this. i am 28 years old with a problem that affects me. And when you call in sick to work saying im dizzy and cant walk they laugh at you and say thats not a disease and your not sick. I never did like spinning rides as a kid at the carnvel. yet my brain makes it so the whole world is spinning. and it does not matter weather i am asleep or awake i have episodes both times. I cant even lay on the ground and look at the stars with out spinning. ya know how people lean there heads back to crack there necks i do that i get dizzy. and now a new symptom is when it gets really bad i start running a 101-102 degree temp. what is going on with me. do i go in to the dr?

Aloha
I just read your story and I KNOW Exactly how you feel! When I was 16 I fractured my skull and now ever since I suffer from vertigo. I am now 35.I have had 4 concussions:) I think this doesn't help! Anyway,It hits me about every 6 months and sometimes closer together. Fortunately my boss' sister has vertigo so he understands. But I know how disrupting it is.
What I have found that helps...B/C no MRi or cat scan has found anything...it's like an imaginary disease to people..is dramamine, sleeping propped up..if you want to call it sleeping..and a motion sickness patch when I get really bad episodes! They stay on for 3 days and seem to help a bit. The Dr.said try Valium but um..no thanks!
Last night was my first night in 10 days that I did not get woken up with vertigo. But I didn't get much sleep because I kept waiting for it to hit. Hopefully tonight will be better.
So maybe go to the Dr. for the patches they are prescription. But hang in there:)I KNOW your pain!!I just wanted to respond because people say they understand but they don't unless they have vertigo.
Have a great day..
Good luck with it.
