OMNIAX - Epley ManeuverBPPV sufferers are well acquainted with the Epley Maneuver or canalith reposition techniques. The OMNIAX was recently approved by the FDA for commercial marketing and distribution. This device was designed by Dr. Epley. Kind of like the devices that astronauts train in to get accustomed to the effects of gravity, this device uses computer technology to visually see the positioning of the semi-circular canals and track the eye movements as the person is rotated into different positions. Essentially it uses gravity to rid the canals of those pesky ear stones that cause the problem we all know so well. I pass this on as it sounds like a significant improvement over the tradition way the dix-hallpike test is used to diagnose and treat BPPV. I would ask that anyone who has had the opportunity to receive therapy from this machine report to the forum for the benefit of all. I know it might be premature to hope for personal feedback on the machine but in future months (hopefully not that much in the future) we might be hearing some good things about this.
Re: OMNIAX - Epley ManeuverI was a part of the testing of this machine. My doctor explained the trial status of the machine and asked if i would like to be a participant. I agreed and to my surprise it actually worked much better than the old way of repositioning the crystals. I had to do this a few times but it seemed to control the vertigo much better than before. The only problem for me now is i am experiencing visual vestibular mismatch and there really is not much that can be done for this but exercises that don't seem to be working. The new omniax is a great break through in my opinion hopefully more people will be able to get a chance to use this in their treatment.
