Recently Diagnosed With Vertigo On E.R VisitHello I am a 45 yr old women who for the past three weeks had alot of allergies, nose stuffed constatnt blowing and nothing producing sneezing the whole nine works with the allergies. I went to primary Doctor she ordered me nasonex and claritin which i didn't get until 3 days ago they forgot to put order in .Wow I know,This past thursday woke up and i was dizzy very dizzy Couldn't stand felt really wierd so i went to ER Room where they looked at me and in my ears and said that i wasn't draining and gave me Meclizine to help with the dizziness Which i was told could make me dizzy? Huh? Friday I woke up alittle better clear headed but today saturday I am right back to where i was dizzy off balanced etc. My question is Can my allergies bring on this ? What is not draining? And how do i get it to drain besides doing the naonex and claritin? I am going to doctors Tuesday I am just walking in the freaking place But this dizziness is not going away and i have a life with 3 small children that i need to attend to. Do i have an infection? If i had why didn't the ER give me a antibiotic to help me with it? Im scared too! It's not a good feeling at all! Please Anybody know what i am asking Or even saying! And what can I do here? ...................Thank you Carol
Re: Recently Diagnosed With Vertigo On E.R VisitDid your ER visit include a sinus xray or CT scan? Sinus infections cane be ruled out or in by either of these tests. I have had sinus problems all my life and the dizziness you describe was never part of my symptoms. Vertigo is much harder to diagnose and for the most part-it comes and goes.
I was diagnosed last Aug. with vertigo, after a 45 minute conference call where I tipped my held to one position, while holding the receiver. When the call ended and I put my head in the neutral position, I felt like I was in the movie, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, my world was spinning. PT has helped me, and I'm now going once per month rather than 2x per week. Dizziness is a terrible feeling- hopefully you don't also vomit. It makes your life very unpredictable.
Re: Recently Diagnosed With Vertigo On E.R VisitNo they didn't do a sinus xray he looked into the ears and said there was drainage. That to keep using the nasonex and follow up with my doctor. That if i didn't feel better come back there. Well i was ok Friday but saturday in and out of bed all day no i am not vomiting any. Just feel ick! Smiled! Today I feel alot better but im scared to do a whole hell of alot i don't want it coming back again. Which i know it will if it wants to.
I have alot of mucus in the nose it is very very thick in consistancy its not easy to just blow out! Really! And when i blow my ears pop and it hurts too! So i don't know im hoping its a temporary thing but if not im getting a heads up on the thing first brfore my docotor tries to put me thru it all i am not willing to go thru all that mess with her then a whole lot with the next i know that a referral to a ent is the next thing to do if this is not caused from the sinus/allergies.................What do you think! Yes when i move my head certain ways i get it ...but i hear it in my ears to the cracling sounds like salt moving around and in the neck area too! all the time there. It cracks alot! Well get back to me and thank u so much for taking the time out to talk to me and let me vent about it.................Im relieved to hear others stories..............I will let you know too what was said to me! Thank u so much really
Re: Recently Diagnosed With Vertigo On E.R VisitIt does sound like a sinus infection. I have never been dizzy with it, I should say-since i know what both are, I can tell the difference between sinus/vertigo. Usually Dr's can tell if you have a low grade fever, headache, especially in the forehead area, under eyes or pressure in the eyes ( I get all the time) sneezing. Sometimes even my teeth hurt!!!! If you get an antibiotic, ask for 14 days. 10 is just not long enough-you'll be back in a couple weeks with the same symptoms.
Try a neti pot. My daughter bought me one a few years ago. I swear by it! Really cleans out the nasal cavities and gets the allergens out. Breathe in a hot shower or sit over your bathroom sink with the hot water running-put a towel over your head and breath in. The steam works wonders. Good luck-hope you feel better!
Re: Recently Diagnosed With Vertigo On E.R VisitThank you so much i only hope we are both right! we'll see tuesday when i go yell at my Doctor smiled! i feel good today alot better then the other day keeping up with the nasal spray haven't took the meazcline for dizziness at all today so? who knows Im praying thats all i can do at this point. I am keeping in mind what ya told me everything so im ahead like i said but im hoping its the minor instead of the majors! thank you so much Honest!
Recently Diagnosed With Vertigo On E.R VisitAs I was cooking dinner on a Thursday, evening I was liffting the top to check on my dinner. Than all of a sudden it hit me ~~ Dizzy~~ so as I grab hold to the conner so I would not fall to the floor. Yes I did catch myself.whew!! meanwhile I started drinking water saying to myself. It is OK. Oh! How WRONG!! I was off to the ER I go therefor they gave me CTS test & EKG as well kept me over night for the nerve doctor to exman me. Well from this point on this where they express to me that I have VERTIGO!! Yes I do have sinus flare ups, however not at this time I did not Have any issues with my sinus. Just this VERTIGO Issues right now alone with all these meds. That goes right alone with it. I have not heard of VERTIGO! at all. So I went to me Primary Doctors the following Monday Morning, with these same Diagnosed as the ER Doctors with more Pills to take. Does anyone knows just how long it takes for this to go away? Or does it every go away at all? I am soooooooooooooo SCARED!! I have two teens that means soooooooo much to me. So if someone PLEASE REPLY BACK WITH WHEN THE TIME PER-MITES FOR THEM TO DO SO~~ Thannxx a Bunch~~
Re: Recently Diagnosed With Vertigo On E.R VisitWhen the vertigo first hit you, were you bending over? There are several types of vertigo. Mine was BPVP ( because of my position) Originally when it hit me, I was on a 45 minute phone call, with my head tipped to one side. Sinus infections can add to vertigo. Do you have an ear infection? Fluid in the ear can also give you the dizzy feeling. Have you had other testing? If this continues, you may want to get some PT. There are many exercises that can help vertigo. My vertigo ( the feeling of movemnet comes and goes, but it's not as severe as when I went to the ER-my wolrd was spinning and I just wanted OFF! The vomitting was the worst part.
Good luck!
Re: Recently Diagnosed With Vertigo On E.R VisitFrom the visit of E.R. to my physican, with the testing of MRI been done with the results of all negtive results that has been clear. Know I have been referred to an (Otolarygology) with the testing of an Elctrocohleograhpy (ECOHCHG) testing that I have to take very soon. The (Otolarygology) did remove a lot of wax from my ears. WheW!! Job well done. However, right after that everything became very loud. With ringing into both of my ears. Know I have to have an balancing test done as well. So have anyone have this test done. If so what were the outcome results from the VERTIGO. Thannxx a bunch. Please reply back when the time per-mites for someone to do so.
