Severe near fainting dizziness with vision disturbances.

Post a new topicby bluerose7697 on Wed Dec 31, 2008 5:10 pm

Im 31 years old and have been haveing problems with dizziness for 16 years when I was a teenager. It had started out as dizziness (Lightheadedness) when I would stand up from sitting in class it would happen repeatly thruout the day I still have the same symptoms until recently back in August I started a new job and it was getting more and more violent and with longer periods of time it would also start when Im sitting in one place too. I would get attacks several times a day and when I get up It feels like I will faint and pass out up to 10-20 times a day almost every day. I would feel an attack come on I would get fullness in my ears and my head and ears would get really tight have ringing and the first violent episode I was walking around and then the room would get dimmer and dimmer and then black for a second then my vison is ok again and will still have the unsteadyness and will be ok in 3 minutes.

My problem had gotten so bad that I had gotten fired because I missed so many days of work and I want there for more than 5 weeks. And I thought that the rest and the time off would do me some good. I had went to an ent had a eng, hearing test and they were all normal. My ent given up and told me to go to my pcp. My pcp ordered a tilt table test when they test your blood pressure at diffrent angels strapped to a table still negative.

I went to another ear dr who was much better than the ent I went to He treated me like I had Menieres disease. I had a hearing test, a rotory chair test, a vng, and other hearing tests to test for meineres disease and he still couldnt find an answer. He said its not Menieres and theres nothing wrong with my ears at all.

I had period of a severe spell of dizziness I stood up and the dizziness hit me when I was standing for about a minute it was a delayed response to the usual getting up. I was walking to my desk when the room got dimmer and dimmer and to the point that my periphal vision on both eyes were black. (Tunnel Vision). The Ear dr said Meneres disease dont cause blindness only migranes do.

My dizziness was so severe I could not work more than 4 hours at my new job at a time. I just not only have dizziness when I stand but when I sit down at work and when I move my head. And this was when I was taking Antivert 3-4 times a day for about a month. The ear dr said he is extremely concerned for my condition. I have been rushed to the ER a few times and all tests were normal.

I went to a neurologist 4 weeks ago and I was admitted to the hospital for a EEG to test for seizures and that was also negative. I will finally see a balance disease neurologist ENT in 2 weeks and will hope to get some closure out of this, My life has been turned upside down to the point I couldnt even go to my relatives house for a simple meet and greet sit down dinner for god sakes because I was sick and confined to bed for 5 days straight for near fainting dizziness that I suffer from 10-15+ times a day. Im seeing a psychologist because of this to help me cope.

I have had a MRI/MRA, ENG, a CT scan, EEG, Tilt table tests, Rotorary chair test, blood work and more pending tests. I hope I will able to get my life back.

Im so sorry you are suffering. I have vertigo too. It comes and goes. I can have days when I feel fine and then others when I feel totally off kilter. Its awful. I also have Lyme disease-have had it fo 10 years now. They aren't sure if the two are related.

Ive had all the tests done too. They finally put me in vestibular therapy. It does help. My problem now though is that I have a terrible cold and that is making the dizziness much, much worse again.

Do a search on vestibular therapy. Bring it up to your dr and see if he recommends it or not. I have a husband and 3 young kids and life just sucks right now. Im hoping this will clear up again soon.
