Vertigo with no answersHope someone has some information to lead me in the right direction. My 15 year old daughter has vertigo that is continual since Sept. 9. She seemed to get it following some ear pain in the summer of 07. Then in Feb of this year it went completely away to return Sept. 9. She has had MRI ear testing that is neg., and here we sit with continual vertigo It is worse with movement of the head, car rides, her sport volleyball (which she is not playing). ENT says she does not have BPPV. Will do allergy testing next week and repeat an audiogram and the water in the ear test, ENG or VNG? Does anyone have any answers or thoughts.
Re: Vertigo with no answersI woke several weeks ago, turned over in bed, sat up and began to fly through the room! Ok I know my body wasn't really flying but it was worse than any amusement park scrambler ride you could imagine! After doctors test etc. my family practitioner did the Epley maneuver which about put me over the edge! I repeated this series later that night (now trusting that I wouldn't pass out completely when the spinning began) and again the next morning. By later that day--no more spinning when I raised my head back. Now I know what positioning will set off my inner ear stuff and blessings to this Epley person who figured this out. I have since talked with many folks on campus who have suffered with this and several who have realized the Epley maneuver will help. prayers to your daughter as she goes through all this and to you as you have to witness it.....
Re: Vertigo with no answersHello, i hope this helps a little. I have had vertigo now for two and a half years.I will never forget my first real bad attack. I have had MRI scan all clear. I have had the water in the ear tests and that did pick up that one of my balance organs is damaged. The Hospital i go to have done tests for 2 years Its only now i am getting answers Does your daughter also have tinitus??. if she feels that her ear(s) are blocked or she can hear a wierd noise ask for a hearing test. They do say that an ear infection does couse vertigo. As to date i am still off work becouse of this. i dont think that the doctors can be one hundred percent and say yes to the balance organs are damaged. One of the main things i have found out is that i now use my eyes to help with my balance. I did have a problem with sea water trapped in my right ear back in 1998 when i was in the army serving in Bosnia. They say this has helped with the problems i now have.
HOPE THIS IS SOME HELP AND I REALLY HOPE YOUR DAUGHTER GETS HER ANSWERS. Andy.
