Vertigo...now lightheadedness for a monthHi. I am new here and just joined now. I had a severe vertigo episode one month ago. I was taking a shower and suddenly felt as if I was on a boat--a "rocking/wavy" motion swaying back and forth. It was the most frightening feeling..I thought I was having a stroke It brought me down to my knees so I wouldn't hit my head. This lasted less than 10 seconds. Since that feeling, I have not had that "rocking sensation" anymore but when I move my head suddenly, I feel "spacey" and "tipsy" almost all the time. I can still function for the most part, but I don't feel the same. I have been to my primary MD twice, labs are normal, and now will be referred to a neurologist. I have taken meclizine--which worsened my symptoms because it made me so drowsy and more dizzy. Is there anyone out there that have had the same feelings and experience? I would like to have a CT scan or MRI if indicated..mostly because I am a "worry wart" and need to have my mind relieved of possibilities--you know the bad stuff you hear about on line. I am also an RN which doesn't help the situation, because I tend to think of the bad stuff first. My MD thinks it's an inner ear thing that should resolve on it's own. Can someone out there share their experience with me?

Re: Vertigo...now lightheadedness for a monthI have been plagued by vertigo for a little over 2 months now. It started off as a daily sensation from the time I woke up until the time I went to bed. I finally went to the doctor. she thought that it might be a inner ear condition but could not see anything wrong. She told me to try dramamine and sent me on my way. It went underlying, surfacing only occasissionally. getting off of an elevator climbing up and down a ladder were just some of the things that triggered an episode. Last week I had a real bad one that lasted about an hour. everything looked as if it were rolling, nausea it was real scary. I had an MRI last week which apparently had some abnormalities. The doctor suggested meclazine since dramamine made me incoherent, so I took a pill and went to work, big mistake. My dizziness lasts off and on all day. My nest stop may be a ear, nose and throat doc.
Re: Vertigo...now lightheadedness for a monthIt's been 3 months now since my first vertigo episode. I'm thankful each day that it doesn't come back...although I must say, I still get the sensation every now and then. What kind of abnormalities did they see on your MRI? I hope the best for you. Get it checked out as soon as you can. The earlier--the better. Best of luck.
