Living With Peripheral Neuropathy

Post a new topicby livingwith on Tue Mar 10, 2009 2:13 pm

I ws diagnosed with Peripheral Neuropathy back in 1999 and was in denial becaused I had the burning pain in my feet. I learn to live with that watching my diet and exercise. Then in 2007 I was diagnosed with it in my Hands…the burning sensation kept me up all night and my neurologist told me that it was not Carpal Tunnel and that the neuropathy was in my hands. They have never told me what has caused all of this, but I was also diagnosed with a high Iron level in my blood system, which ca...Read the full article

Hmmm... first I've heard about high iron levels and neuropathy - but Ironically, I have borderline high iron, and symptoms of neuropathy - amazing none of my DOCTORS made that little connection.

I've not heard that iron could be included in possible reasons for Peripheral Neuropathy either but one needs to explore all possibilities. I was recently diagnosed w/PH in my feet and also get tingling in my fingertips (labs are fantastic, nerve tests fantastic - who knows why I have it)... The whole thing stinks! I am a otherwise a very healthy and active 51 year old woman. With 300mg of Lyrica daily I have 100% relief in my feet but I think that because of anxiety I can imagine it creeping up my legs. Being on my feet seems to help. My Doc said to not be barefooted on cold or warm/hot surfaces and avoid alcohol. Anyone else hear this?

I too have a Wii Fit and have heard that one needs to do whatever they can to keep balanced. I do balance games on my Fit everyday and also balance on one leg with my eyes closed for as long as I can. (usually 20-30 seconds for me) My Doc says it's a good exercise to do everyday. My Aunt said a Doc told her that people with PH get diabetes within 5-10 years. I hope to prove this Doc wrong and stay as fit as I can with diet and exercise everyday.
