Dizziness with medicationsHi, I'm 35 years old and found out that I have neuropathy last summer, although I had had the symptoms for several years but hadn't been diagnosed. I was placed on Neurontin which offered some relief but as my symptoms worsened it just wasn't enough. I was then also placed on Lyrica about a month ago.
The Lyrica has helped but since starting it I have been having a tremendous problem with dizziness Right now, I have to let my husband do all of the driving; I'm afraid to because the dizziness can come on so suddenly and unexpectedly. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, did the dizziness eventually go away or should I ask my doctor about a lower dose, or is it something I'm going to have to deal with? (Given the choice, I would rather deal with the dizziness than with the burning sensations and pain!)
Re: Dizziness with medicationsI too am on Lyrica for neuropathy since November 2008, 150mg twice a day. I have dizziness issues and some days are worse than others. Absolutely talk to you Dr if you're afraid of dizzy spells while driving. Mine are usually when I stand up but can also happen while walking down the hall, lasting just a short time. I haven't experienced dizziness while outdoors though. Strange now that I think about it... Have your blood pressure checked. Maybe it's low, but one of the Lyrica side effects is dizziness. I find that when I have a spell and check my blood pressure it's a little low. Are you on any other medications that might contribute to your dizziness? I have to be careful taking anxiety or prescription pain meds as they make the dizziness worse. But I agree...dizziness is better than the burning feet...
Re: Dizziness with medicationsThanks for the reply! Now I have a related question...
To anyone who has had problems with dizziness while taking Lyrica: did the dizziness diminish after time? Mine will ease off with time, then come back twice as hard. Also, I feel extremely weak. This started soon after I began taking the Lyrica, and it only seems to be getting worse, not better. I'm going back to the doctor about it soon, but I wondered if anyone else was having similar problems.
