Confuse/Disabilty questionHello to everyone!
Well my RSD and another new dianosis has landed me in the hospital again!! I am finally home & hope I don't have to do that road again any time soon!!! Now I am battling my blood pressure. With the RSD in a new limb (caused by radial nerve palsy) & 7 trips to the hospital since Feb and losing my job, I do believe it is time to file for disabilaty. My question to everyone is - Has anyone filed for disability & if so, is it difficult to receive as a result of RSD? Should I go straight for an attorney? I would really appreciate any input anyone could give to me!!! Thanks to everyone out there & I hope all is well with everyone!! MEG
Re: Confuse/Disabilty questionHi. First and foremost, I am SO sorry that you are going through this. I have been there and GOD willing, I will NEVER be there, again. Short of a long story; I had developed RSD as a result of a skiing accident. Started in my left knee/leg and has spread throughout my WHOLE body; including brain shake type things going on. I was fortunate enough to live in NC and had found a specialist in SC; Greenville SC and the DR was DR Robert Schwartz [moderator note: website address has been removed]
If you don't live ANYWHERE near SC, you can still gain his knowledge of RSD on his website listed above. HE is a miracle worker for RSD patients. I am a BIG FAN. As for your question and disability. My RSD was taking me to disability, as well. I had learned about SSI; Social Security Insurance/Disability. I researched it, ALL of it and I can tell you it's hard to decipher and virtually impossible to figure out on your own. My suggestion would be to go online and search for attorneys and disability and FREE consultation. Good luck and I would love to hear how it goes.
Re: Confuse/Disabilty questionI tried twice to get on disability due to MS, by doing it by myself. Both times it was a long drawn out process. And I was turned down. So I got a lawyer, then things went swiftly and I got it. So my advice is to get a lawyer right away. Don't attempt to go it alone.
Re: Confuse/Disabilty questionThanks to all - I figured as much as my husband had to get an attorney the 3rd time as well! It looks a little promising (as well as a few law suits as indicated with some of my other stories. Try to have a nice weekend!!

Re: Confuse/Disabilty questionHI,
IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU'VE ALREADY DECIDED TO GET A LAWYER. THAT IS A WISE DECISION. SEEK THE HELP OF A DISABILITY LAWYER. IN MOST CASES, THEY DON'T GET PAID UNTIL YOU WIN YOUR CASE. THEN, THEY ARE ONLY PAID A PRE-DETERMINED PERCENTAGE RATE. BUSSEY
Re: Confuse/Disabilty questionHi Meg
I am in the process of having my SSI appeal. I have had RSD for 20 years, 10 surgeries, undergoing ketamine, close to being non ambulatory, vcant sleep and have constant pain. Sadly, our awful condition isnt a immediate approval for SSI. I have an attorney and my case looks very promising. I hope your claim goes well. Lisa Snyder

Re: Confuse/Disabilty questionHello meglaser,
As the saying goes, if it isn't one thing, it's another! I'm glad to hear that your job is going to be paying you something for now. However, hearing how the methane gas has affected your heart, is unwelcomed news for sure. No matter what your settlements are, your company has a very long way to go in even coming close to making things right! I'm hoping that your hand will not need surgery as well. Hang in there, and never give up! As you already know, you're in my prayers! Take care. Bussey
Re: Confuse/Disabilty questionHi Bussey!
My hand thank god!! is doing pretty good! I am actually typing today with 10 fingers! However, I saw the neuralogist and there is evidence of RSD in it(no surprise there as we both agreed - where ever I will have nerve damage RSD will settle) anyway I will be speaking to the attorney for both the lawsuit and disability the coming up Friday. It happens by chance to be the same attorney my husband had for his case (which was a very unique case) so we shall see!! - Thanks for responding I really need support right now as I am at an all time low!!! I am trying but it is hard as my husband puts nonsense in my kids head suchas i am abusing my pain med and that was why o was sick the last few weeks - this is veru untrue. You know what any illness does to an RSD patient - it works on our immune system, additionally for the past few months my heart has been acting up and the week prior to menstral cycle when i stand up it bottoms out so low i pass out. sometimes it looks like i am convulsing which i maybe? However, since I have been getting hurt I have had to go to the hospital. I think u know all of the this so anyway i did try to go out yesterday to see my son in a parade at wildwood but i am still in my funk. anyway enjoy your weekend!! meg
