Re: Spinal Cord Stimulator for Neuropathy.I would like to add a comment to my story and my treatment for my Neuropathy.......
A SCS implant(spinal cord stimulator) is NOT for everyone and should only be considered when all other treatments have failed. A battery about the size and weight of a silver dollar is implanted beside my spine and wires(leads) are implanted in my spine. The wires are tunneled under the skin to the battery. It is NOT as scarey as it sounds and you do have a trial before the permanent implant to see if the stimulator works for you. You have a remote control that you use to turn the battery on and off and also control the amount of stimulation and you must also recharge the battery weekly. That can take up to 45 min. while you watch TV or read or whatever. I tried injections, physical therapy, you name it I tried it!! I was on very large doses of narcotics for my savage pain but have gone from high doses to one 15mg Oxtcodone every 6 hours!! To me that is wonderful. I have a life again!! I am walking without a cain again!! I am pain free but I do tingle from my knees down into my feet. It took me about 15 minutes to get use to the tingling. I hope my information will help some of you because thare is hope for those of us who suffer chronic pain as I have. Hugsssssssss to all Patsy
